Lafayette County has always had a beautiful courthouse, its crown being a large clocktower on the top. On Dec. 15, 2021 , the clock tower and dome were removed to be restored. Now, after an extended period of waiting, the clock tower has returned to Mayo. The team was hard at work for a few days, from Monday, July 11, until Wednesday, July 13, first bringing the bell to the top, then the bell tower, followed quickly by the clock and then topping it all off was the dome. After months of hard work and waiting, a crowd gathered to watch each piece return to its rightful place. Joy could be felt through the crowd, as the finale of this months-long event was satisfying for everyone.
