On Tuesday, June 9, the Town of Jennings held its monthly meeting at City Hall, located at 1199 Hamilton Ave., in Jennings. In attendance were Mayor Samantha Prueter, Vice Mayor Antonette Crumedy, Councilman Cynthia Daniels and Councilman Charles Barrett. In addition, Town Manager Jennifer Hightower, Town Attorney Sheena Rickerson, Public Works Director David Gause and Fire Chief Steven Lang joined the council.
The meeting did not have much on the agenda for discussion; however, the importance of the meeting was from the changing of the guard. According to the Town of Jennings bylaws, it is written that the Mayor can only serve two years consecutively. Therefore, Mayor Prueter graciously took a step back and allowed the council to appoint Councilman Barrett as the new Mayor for the Town of Jennings.
Public Works Director Gause and Chief Lang gave their monthly reports and proved the Town of Jennings is continuing to trend in the right direction.
The next Town of Jennings regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, at City Hall, located at 1199 Hamilton Ave., in Jennings.
