Residents from all around the area flooded Andrew's Square in downtown Wellborn on Saturday, June 4, for the 28th Annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival. This annual event aids in raising funds for the Wellborn Community Association (WCA), which is a 501(c)(3) corporation, which supports their goal of enhancing life in the community and its surrounding areas.
Three locations offered the WCA's famous blueberry pancake breakfast until 10 a.m., allowing festival-goers to grab the fluffy goodness no matter where they were. For those who arrived too late to enjoy the pancake breakfast, there were plenty of other food vendors who supplied tasty meals to choose from. There were even plenty of ice cream and cold drinks available to help festival-goers fight off the afternoon heat.
In addition, over 100 vendors had a variety of handmade clothing, wooden toys, artwork, birdhouses and other goodies for sale. Delicious blueberry treats, including blueberry pies, cobblers, jams, jellies and syrups, were also available for purchase at The Country Store. Vintage and classic cars were on display for young and old alike to view. Youth that attended were able to play games, enjoy the cowboy experience of a pony ride, and even feed animals in a small petting area.
As a result of the hard work of the WCA's members and volunteers from the community, the 28th Annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival was just as big of a hit as it has been in previous years.
