Brenda Newbern Sanders, 72, of Lake City, Fla., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2022, at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. She was a loving wife, stepmother, sister, aunt and friend to many and will be so very missed by all. She enjoyed spending time with the people she loved and her family was very important to her. She touched the lives of many people. She was predeceased by her parents, Jessie Irvin Newbern and Vera Cheshire Newbern.
Sanders’s career consisted mostly of banking. She was proficient in her duties in every position she held. For many years, she served as administrative assistant to presidents of two banks in Live Oak, Fla. and also financial trust firms in New Jersey and New York.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Sanders; stepdaughters, Laura Milton (Al) and Kari Williamson (Richard); stepson, Billy Sanders; sister, Linda Newbern Smith (W.R. “Bud”); brothers, Lavaughn Newbern (Ednell) and Jerry Newbern (Martha); and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Sanders were conducted on Wednesday, June 8, at 11 a.m. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center, 6037 US Hwy 90 W, in Lake City.
