On Tuesday, May 24, First Federal Bank employees and supporters donned their navy blue, gold and white apparel for a night of unity and celebration of the bank’s 60th anniversary. To celebrate, non-profit organizations have been nominated by First Federal employees and 60 have been selected over a span of 60 days to receive a donation. A donation of $1,000 was donated to each of the winners except for the 60th nominee, who received the grand prize of $6,000. To view all of the winners, visit First Federal’s website. In March of this year, First Federal donated $1,962, representing the year the bank was founded, to the Douglass High School Alumni and Historical Association to help kick off their giving spirits. President and CEO of the bank, John Medina, announced Friday, May 27, that the winner of the $6,000 prize was the Columbia County CARC. On behalf of the Columbia County CARC, a representative stated, “Thank you First Federal. On behalf of CARC, thank you for this donation. We are grateful for First Federal Bank and for the support they have given the community for over 60 years.”
The bank was given a 60th anniversary recognition plaque from the City of Live Oak, presented by Mayor Frank Davis and acknowledged by Sheriff Sam St. John during the celebration.
