On Saturday, April 30, the Little Miss SHS and Miss SHS Beauty Pageant was held. The pageant took place in the Suwannee High School (SHS) auditorium, starting at 6 p.m. The crowd filed in one by one, with excitement so palpable it could be felt in the air. Students from SHS could be seen trying to catch a glimpse of their friends and family backstage. Parents of the contestants were dressed up nicely, wringing their hands in hope of their little girl winning the competition. Shortly after 6 p.m., the lights began to flicker, signifying the beginning of the pageant.
Isaac Chandler, a teacher from SHS, took the stage as the emcee for the evening, first presenting the judges: Amber Taylor; Jodi Mosley; KarenAnn Cranford Norton and Diana Rothwell. After the presentation of the judges the beauty pageant contestants were presented. Contestants for Little Miss SHS were: London Alexander; Kyler Black; Brooklyn Bruce; Allie Cherry; Andi Crane; Kylie Fillyan; Jolene Gay; Ansley Leyva; Kensington Lynn; Kahleigha Mobley and Bella Robinson. Contestants for Miss SHS were: Maci Campbell; Alexa Duarte; Natalie Dunn; Audrey Felknor; Nicky Fletcher; Kamryn Lee; Logan Lloyd and Leyana Torres. Each contestant fought hard for their spot and fought even harder during the competition. The contestants presented spirit wear, casual wear and formal wear and answered one question to the best of their ability.
Eventually, though, a winner had to be crowned. The First Runner-up for Little Miss SHS was Kylie Fillyan, while the First Runner-up for Miss SHS was Audrey Felknor. Little Miss SHS for the 2022-23 school year was Brooklyn Bruce, and Miss SHS for the 2022-23 school year was Natalie Dunn.
