On Tuesday, May 3, the City of Live Oak held its election for City Council seats in District 1 and District 4. The highly anticipated election opened its polls for early voting on Monday, April 25, through Saturday, April 30. The voting concluded on Tuesday, May 3, where all votes were cast at the Judicial Annex building, located at 218 Parshley St. ,in Live Oak. Running in District 1 was sitting Councilman Robintina Reed, who received the most votes with 30 votes. Finishing second with 22 votes was Tommie Jefferson, followed by Kenny Beasley with 19 and W.W Williams with four votes. With no candidate earning 51 percent of the overall votes, Reed and Jefferson are forced into a run off since they were the top two vote recipients. The run off election will take place on Tuesday, June 14. In District 4, Matt Campbell was declared the winner, claiming 140 votes over Gary Caldwell who received 84 votes.
