Lillian May Riley Johnson, age 74, of Jasper, Fla. (former resident of Gainesville, Fla.), passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Fla., following a brief illness. Johnson was born in Jasper on May 11, 1947, to the late Roy and Dinksey Hunter Riley. She was a member of the Class of 1965 and last graduating class at Jasper High School. Following graduation, Johnson went to work for Property Appraiser Kenneth Tuten. In 1967, she caught the eye of Carroll P. Johnson. She married and moved to Brevard County, where she secured a job with the Brevard County Property Appraiser. After many years in Brevard, she and Carroll moved to Gainesville and went to work for Alachua County Property Appraiser’s Office, where she would remain until her retirement. Johnson was preceded in death by brother, Warren Petty and sisters, Bonnie Lutowski and Colleen Petty. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Carroll P. Johnson, of Jasper; her two sisters, Vivian Smith of Palm Bay, Fla. and Helen Monds of Jasper. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 10, in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Joseph Richardson officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper. Harry T. Reid Funeral Home of Jasper was in charge of arrangements.
