Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is asking for the public's assistance in the location of a suspect involved in the hit and run that left a five-year-old boy in critical condition.
On Monday, April 4, at approximately 7 p.m., FHP responded to a vehicle vs. bicycle accident at the intersection of County Road 143 and Mary Street, in Jennings. The accident involved a 2011-2014 Ford Edge of an unknown color that collided with a five-year-old boy riding a bike. The five-year-old was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition. The suspect's vehicle fled the scene.
FHP states the vehicle should have sustained damage to the front headlight assembly on the passenger side. Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver involved in the incident is urged to contact their local Crime Stoppers or the FHP Communications Center in Jacksonville at 1 (800) 387-1290.
