On Friday, March 4, RIVEROAK Technical College (RTC) students participated in the SkillsUSA Regional Masonry Competition led by RTC Brick and Block Masonry instructor, Derwin Bass. The competition was divided into two categories: the adult level and the high school level. RTC students were competing against 19 other competitors throughout the competition, with RTC taking home the Florida Masonry Apprentice and Educational Foundation's Golden Trowel trophy.
Among those contributing to the win for RTC were Noah Conyers who placed second and Aaron Marlowe, who placed third in the adult divisions. At the high school level, Ethan Carter placed second, Braxton Townsend placed third, Casey Kyle placed fourth, Abigail Ranch placed seventh and Will Carroll placed eighth. By placing second, third and fourth, Carter, Townsend and Kyle will represent RTC at the State level SkillsUSA high school division and Conyers and Marlowe will also represent RTC at the adult State level competition.
