Join Lighthouse Christian Center on Sunday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m., for their Homecoming Celebration with a service led by guest speaker Pastor Ken Henderson. Attendees are then invited to stay for a free luncheon at 12 p.m., followed by a free concert at 1:30 p.m. by Rekindled Grass.
Band leader CJ McClellan (guitar, lead and harmony vocals) is excited about being able to pick and sing with Rekindled Grass' outstanding group of musicians. Formed by McClellan and David Beaumont (mandolin and tenor vocals) in March 2012, Rekindled Grass has become a staple in the bluegrass community, having been performing for just over nine years together.
“Rekindled Grass has a fresh new sound that is unprecedented in the state of Florida among bluegrass bands,” a bluegrass promoter recently said. “Their drive and timing are like a well-oiled machine and their blend of voices will bring you to tears of joy as they deliver the message of life in a song! They communicate so well with every audience and make them feel part of every song!”
Rekindled Grass is the host band for the monthly Fourth Friday bluegrass Night at the Krazy Kup coffee shop in Plant City, Fla. They have played at events up and down the easter seaboard at Bluegrass festivals, churches and state fairs. Several members of the band play at the Florida State Fair each year, as well as at the Florida Strawberry Festival. Most of the band members have also played at the Station Inn in Nashville, Tenn.
Other members of the band are Donnie Harvey (banjo and baritone vocals), JR Davis (guitar, tenor and lead vocals), Alan Colpitts (bass) and Florida Fiddler State Champion Jason “Cornbread” Baker (fiddle).
Everyone is welcome to attend this exciting occasion. Lighthouse Christian Center is located at 772 N Hwy 51, in Mayo.
