Patrice's School of Dance is well-known throughout Suwannee and Lafayette Counties, as their choreographies have led them to perform at many different locations. This includes multiple performances at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, La.; the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas; the Citrus Bowl in Orlando and, this season, the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Saturday, Jan. 1.
Mayo's own Cheryl Byrd, a teacher at Patrice's School of Dance, was asked to choreograph the pre-game and halftime routine. Her students were involved in intense training for four days, perfecting their routine alongside many other groups throughout America. Over the vigorous four days, the girls from Patrice's School of Dance caught the eye of the director and were moved to the 50 yard-line on the field. They were featured in the second of a three-song set of "Listen to the Music."
“It was a fantastic experience for the girls to perform in front of a packed crowd and they did amazing,” said Byrd. “They were thrown a lot of changes in a short amount of time and they rolled with them and continued to work hard to get it right."
