Lafayette FFA competes in Sub-District Competition
The Lafayette Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter competed in the Florida FFA District 3, Sub-District 3 contest on Dec. 14, 2021, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Bell, Fla. The contest was hosted by the Bell FFA Chapters. The Sub-District includes the following chapters: Bell, Dixie County, Lafayette, Riverside Christian, Taylor County and Trenton.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies (OCC) team placed first. The OCC team members were Little Dallas Deadwyler, Molly Hamlin, Danica Dedge, Tori Morris, Kyleigh Jacobs, Maggie Day, Boone Riley, Callie King and Kaleb Harris.
The Middle School Parliamentary Procedure team placed first. The Middle School Parliamentary Procedure team members were Fhelix Hernandez, Cailyn Hynds, Natalie Harper, Kambry Moseley, Clara Knight and Wyatt Chandler.
The High School Parliamentary Procedure team placed first. The High School Parliamentary Procedure team members were Jaley Moseley, Jalen Hill, Seth Chandler, Cason Driver, Mackenzie Winburn and Ella Hancock.
Daniela Camarillo competed in the High School Prepared Public Speaking Leadership Development Event and placed first.
All of the listed teams advance to the 2022 District 3 Contest on Jan. 25, 2022, in Trenton. The Lafayette FFA appreciates Bell FFA and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church for hosting and Bell FFA Alumni for providing lunch.
Four Lafayette FFA teams advance to next round of competition
The Lafayette FFA Middle and High School Dairy Evaluation and Livestock Evaluation teams competed in the 2021 Florida FFA Virtual State Preliminary on Dec. 2, 2021. The high school livestock team will and the middle school livestock team advanced to the second round of the high school livestock evaluation state preliminary, which will be held at the Florida State Fair on Saturday, Feb. 12. Both dairy evaluation teams will advance to the state finals at the Florida State Fair on Saturday, Feb. 19.
The high school livestock evaluation team members were Carter Higginbotham, Daniela Camarillo, Sidney Wimberley, Savanna King and Peyton Ditter. The middle school livestock evaluation team members were Trace Hart, Logan Lamb and Little Dallas Deadwyler. The high school dairy evaluation team members were Jack Peterson, Callie Buchanan, Avery Buchanan, Delaney Deadwyler, Regina Camarillo and Madison King. The middle school dairy evaluation team members were Trey Lawson, Miley McCray, Tucker Higginbotham and Boone Riley. The chapter appreciates Brenda Peterson for coaching the dairy evaluation teams.
