On Wednesday, Dec. 29, Avery Buchanan and Kristen Duckett traveled to Atlanta, Ga., to join the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) All-American cheer squad at the Sheraton Hotel. They met for practice that afternoon, going over the routine they had all learned during their summer camps. After a morning of traveling and an afternoon of practice, the young ladies spent the evening at a banquet at the Hilton Hotel, where they were honored as All-American Cheerleaders. The following day they were scheduled to march in the Peach Bowl Parade; unfortunately, due to the weather, the parade was canceled. Later, they attended Fan Fest at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), where they performed their routine for the crowd. From there, they were taken to the Mercedez Benz Stadium for a tour of the stadium and photo opportunities. Then, they were taken back to the GWCC, where they broke into groups to enjoy a Gospel devotional. Afterward, they were free to be picked up by their parents. During their visit and while they were honored, they were given t-shirts, shorts, hair bows, hoodies, sweatpants and backpacks, as well as tickets to the Peach Bowl game along with several meals sponsored by Chic-fil-A. Avery Buchanan took time to reflect on her time with her All-American cheer squad, stating "It was a once in a lifetime experience. I appreciate the opportunity to represent my school."
