Suwannee County resident, Alyce Player, has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Since her diagnoses, she has started a double dose of chemotherapy and daily radiation. Unfortunately, Player is not covered by Medicaid and will only be able to receive half of the course of treatment recommended by her oncologist. Player has spent countless hours volunteering for our community. She has been a bell ringer for Salvation Army every Christmas, is a member of the Community Emergency Response Team, a Guardian ad Litem volunteer, a member of the Elks Lodge, has been a voice for victims of abuse on her own and, through Vivid Visions, has helped at the Pregnancy Care Center, Shop with a Cop, Pizza Hut Thanksgiving meals, Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, cooked and delivered meals every month to elderly people. When Alyce sees a need in Suwannee County, her first thought is “how can I help?” Now, she needs our help to fight lung cancer. Player’s friend, Maureen Hogan, set up a GoFundMe where the community and beyond can assist. At this time, the GoFundMe has raised almost $1,000 of their $10,000 goal.
