On Thursday, Jan. 20, The Hamilton County High School Trojans varsity basketball team traveled to Lafayette County to take on the Lafayette High School Hornets. The Trojans started slow, scoring only four points in the first quarter and found themselves trailing by 10 points at halftime. But as the third quarter began, so did the Trojans as they started closing the gap as the third quarter came to a close. Trailing 27-32 going into the fourth quarter, the Trojans tied the score with two minutes remaining in the game. After that, the game went back and forth, with neither team getting the edge until 11 seconds left; the Trojans then broke free in the lane for a layup that proved to be the final dagger for the Trojans. The Trojans claimed a 54-52 victory over the Hornets.
