On Monday, Jan. 17, the Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) Committee of Suwannee County honored Dr. Martin Luther King with its 26th annual Dr. Martin Luther King parade through downtown Live Oak. A church service followed the parade at African Baptist Church and a luncheon at the Douglas Center with guest speaker Lanetra Bennett. The MLK Committee of Suwannee County, Suwannee County School Board, Suwannee County Elected officials, Suwannee County Voters League, and the Grand Marshall Honorary Sonny Nobles were in attendance and Lynda Owns with the 2022 Grand Marshall Rev. Clifton Riley. Many other representatives were throughout the parade, all in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King and his impact on such a turning point in America's history.
