On Friday, Jan. 7, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) responded to a stabbing that occurred between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Upon arriving on scene, deputies found 24-year-old Sky Pilgrim, of Valdosta, Ga., with an apparent stab wound caused by a screwdriver. The suspect, 21-year-old Ashley Elton Delk, of Homerville, Ga., fled the scene. Pilgrim was transported to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta for further treatment while deputies with the HCSO pursued Delk. The manhunt involved the combined efforts of the HCSO, Suwannee Correctional Institution K9 units and air support from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The extensive five-hour search came to an end when Delk was tracked down by the K9 units and apprehended without further incident. Delk was then booked into the Hamilton County Jail under charges of aggravated battery, methamphetamine possession, drug possession and possession of a controlled substance. There has been no update on Pilgrim's condition at the time of publication.
