On Monday, Dec. 13, the Lafayette High School Hornets varsity soccer team traveled to take on the Suwannee High School Bulldogs. Unfortunately, the Hornets fell behind early and never found an answer on how to stop the Bulldogs assault. The Hornets found themselves trailing by five goals at the end of the first half. It was more of the same in the second half, as the Bulldogs added to their lead with three more goals and closing out the Hornets, 8-0.
Next, the Hornets hosted the Bell High School Bulldogs on Thursday, Dec. 16. They hoped to right the ship after such a demoralizing loss in their last outing. The Hornets showed fight, but fell behind in the first half to the Bulldogs, 1-0. However, they came out in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 3-1 in the second half, taking the victory by a score of 3-2. The Hornets then ended the week by hosting the Williston Red Devils on Friday, Dec. 17. The Hornets played a tight game in the first half, but still trailed 2-0. The Red Devils made the appropriate adjustments, leaving the Hornets playing defense most of the second half. Unfortunately, the Red Devils seemed to have their way against the Hornets, as they ran away with the score by adding four more goals for a 6-0 victor. The Hornets' overall record now stands at 6-5-2.
