On Saturday, Jan. 1, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a fatal car accident at the intersection of Mill Street and County Road 135, in White Springs.
According to the FHP report, a 34-year-old male was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) containing two seven-year-old male passengers, all from White Springs, westbound on Mill Street, heading towards the intersection of County Road 135. At the same time, a 74-year-old male, also from White Springs, was driving a pickup truck southbound on County Road 135, approaching the intersection of Mill Street. The SUV did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection, causing the front of the pickup truck to strike the right side of the SUV. The SUV then overturned and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased on scene. Both the children and other driver were reported with no injuries.
