Ann Zipperer Hiers, age 97, of Jennings, Fla., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at her home following an illness of some time. She was known to many as “Mama Ann” and was a true southern lady and was the revered matriarch of the family. She was born on July 19, 1924, in Jennings, to the late William Walter and Ree Harris Zipperer and was a lifelong resident of Jennings. Hiers was married to the late James W. “Jim” Hiers for 58 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and her grandson, Will Hiers. She is survived by her children, Annaree Griffin (the late Junior Griffin), Jimmy Hiers (Melanie) and Jackie Wynn (Eddy), all of Jennings; five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Hiers retired after 35 years of service with the State of Florida Welcome Centers. She was a dedicated farm wife, a renowned cook known for her many specialty dishes and was especially dedicated to her family, friends and her church. A service will be held at 11 a.m. at Jennings United Methodist Church in Jennings on Thursday, Dec. 30. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, Dec. 30, beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jennings United Methodist Church, P.O.
