On Thursday, Nov. 4, after the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was notified of a possible hostage situation, upon arriving at the scene, Jasmine Renee Jones, 28-years-old of Hamilton County, appeared to be disgruntled by the arrival of the deputies on the scene. The deputies observed a situation involving a firearm and a minor that seemed to be held against their will. The situation then escalated by the firing of a weapon by Jones. Jones was then arrested without further incident. She was taken and booked into the Hamilton County Jail on charges of a weapons offense (improper brandishing and firing), cruelty towards a child (abuse of a child without bodily harm), kidnapping a minor for ransom (reward, or shield or hostage), assault (of a person of 65-years-old or older), firing a weapon (on public or on residential property), weapons offense (use of a firearm under the influence of alcohol), crimes against persons and assault (aggravated abuse of elderly or disabled adult). She was later released on Wednesday, Nov. 10, on a $130,000 bond. More details will follow as this is still an ongoing investigation.
