On Tuesday, Oct. 26, the Branford High School Lady Buccaneers varsity golf team hosted the Class 1A District 3 women’s golf tournament at Quail Heights in Lake City. While the target was on the backs of the Lady Buccaneers, head coach LaDon Terry had his ladies poised for such an attack. The Lady Buccaneers have played steady golf all season in preparation for the District tournament.
Leading the way on the course was senior Gabby Saavedra with a low score of 89. Seventh-grader Claire Bond finished second on the day with a low score of 104. Next, Nathalia Veal scored a low 127 and McKayla Harrison contributed with a low score of 129. Rounding out the day for the Lady Buccaneers was Delaney Fennell with a low score of 142. Finally, with an overall team low score of 449, the Lady Buccaneers locked up the District Championship and brought it back to Branford High School.
The Lady Buccaneers were back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 2, as they traveled to the Class 1A Regional tournament. The tournament was held at St. Johns Golf and Country Club, in St. Augustine, Fla.
