On Monday, Oct. 25, the Lafayette High School Hornets varsity golf team hosted the 1A District 3 Championship at Quail Heights Country Club in Lake City. The Hornets entered the day knowing it was going to take their best to overcome the field of competitors. So far, they have been led by junior Trey Galbraith all season, along with Brent Sullivan, Seth Chandler and Davis Jackson.
Galbraith, once again, led the way for the Hornets with a low score of 82. Sullivan followed next with a low score of 88. Chandler added a low score of 92 and Jackson rounded out the day with a score of 89, giving the Hornets a total score of 358 on the day. Hornets head coach Robbie Kirby was pleased with the overall outcome, but admitted the Hornets did not play their best game. However, he looks forward to the chance at Regionals to rebound and put up their top scores.
The Hornets advanced to the Regional finals on Monday, Nov. 1, which was held at Marsh Landing Country Club, located at 25655 Marsh Landing Pkwy, in Ponta Vedra Beach, Fla.
