Elleon B. Dorsett, lovingly known as “Sue” and “SuSu,” age 83, of Branford, died on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, in Lake City, Fla. Dorsett was born in Greenfield, Mass., on April 24, 1938, to Robert Adair Babcock and Lucia Sleeper. She was the sixth of eight children. Dorsett graduated from Greenfield High School, where she was a cheerleader and Miss Franklin County. She attended and graduated from Perry Normal School and Keene State College. She married Thomas L. Dorsett, Jr., her “Eternal Valentine” and best friend, on Feb. 14, 1963.
Dorsett was a teacher for 42 years, during which she taught in three states: Massachusetts, Vermont and Florida. She taught at The Bement School in Deerfield, Mass.; Tunbridge Central School, in Tunbridge, Vt. and in Kenansville, Live Oak, Madison, Okeechobee, Flood Brook, Ascutney, Suwannee Middle School and Branford, in Florida. While serving as the Dancing Dolls Sponsor at Suwannee High School, she led them to a national competition in Dallas, Texas.
As a teacher, Dorsett loved to direct plays, especially musicals. She was adored and loved by her students. Dorsett also loved to work in the yard, garden and in her flower beds. She had an infectious smile and loved to laugh and giggle, especially with her sisters, once known as the “Live Five.” She was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Dorsett is survived by her husband of 58 years, Tom; son, Lee; daughter, Allison (Dave) and five grandchildren, Abbey, Bailey, Collin, Libby and Colby. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lucia; sisters, Polly, Betty Ann, Weezie and Marnie and brothers, Bobby and Bill, as well as a grandson, Brady and, not to be forgotten, her beloved dog, ‘Lil D.
