The Suwannee High School Bulldogs varsity baseball team will go into the season with a solid senior class and big expectations. Among the class of 2022 is Tyson Greene.
Greene is an explosive middle infielder for the Bulldogs with a strong arm from the field. He has a career batting average of .351, with speed that has proven to be a threat to steal bases, as he racked up 18 stolen bases last season alone. He was also called upon last season to close out games for the Bulldogs on the pitcher's mound. With a 90 miles-per-hour fastball, closing out a baseball game is not a complicated challenge for Greene.
Greene has been graded out as a nine out of 10 in Perfect Game, where he has caught the eye of many college coaches going into his senior season. Therefore, it wasn't hard to see why Greene became a priority for coaches. Greene has considered several options and on Sunday, Oct. 24, it was announced he decided to commit to the St. John's River State College Vikings in Lakeland, Fla.
The 2022 Suwannee High School Bulldogs varsity baseball team is peppered with stars throughout their lineup, with high expectations for the upcoming baseball season. One of those reasons for the high expectations is their flame thrower, Josh Fernald. Fernald, as a sophomore, was able to impose his will on opposing teams with a 4-1 record, along with a 1.58 earned-run average. He pitched 31 innings for the Bulldogs last season with an impressive stat-line of 40 strikeouts. Fernald will be entering his junior season as part of a highly talented Bulldogs pitching staff that strikes fear into opposing teams.
Fernald has also created a name for himself outside of Suwannee. He has performed well in the world of travel baseball and on the Perfect Game stage, grading as a nine out of 10. With a fastball topped at 90 miles-per-hour to go with his 6’2”, 187 lb. frame, Fernald generates a certain buzz about himself by his performances on the field.
Most kids who grow up playing baseball dream of the day they get the nod to the next level. Those nods began coming in for Fernald at the young age of 16-years-old; one in particular from the University of Central Florida (UCF). After deliberation with his family and coaches, Fernald has decided to accept the UCF offer and has given them his verbal commitment. Upon graduating from Suwannee High School in 2023, Fernald will become a UCF Golden Knight.
