On Saturday, Oct. 14, the Fourth annual Suwannee Valley Cornhole Tournament, hosted by Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC), raised $5,737 for United Way of Suwannee Valley (UWSV). This year's tournament featured a total of 25 teams divided into Competitive and Novice brackets. While many players were locals, others came from as far away as Ocala, Fla.
"We were excited to have several new teams participate this year and it's always good to see the players who have been coming out since our first tournament back in 2018," said SVEC Director of Communications, Jon Little. "We are very thankful to them and our local sponsors for making this event such a success."
Tournament sponsors were:
Gusher Level – Pilgrim's and Seminole Electric Cooperative.
Swish Level – First Federal Bank and W.B. Howland's Building Supply.
Slider Level – Ace Pole Co., Ameris Bank, Cheek & Scott Pharmacy, State Representative Chuck Brannan, Farmers Cooperative, Poole Realty, RIVEROAK Technical College, Sound Line Design and SunStop.
Ace Level – Live Oak Family Practice, Ryan J. Peters Law Office and Wes Haney Chevrolet.
North Florida Cornhole organized the brackets and coordinated the games. Lunches were available from Rudy's Dawgs.
"United Way of Suwannee Valley continues to be so appreciative and thankful for the partnership and support received from Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative," said UWSV Executive Director, Jennifer Anchors. "Now, more than ever, we need such partners and leaders to help those in need."
SVEC is a non-profit cooperative which provides safe, affordable and reliable electric service to over 19,000 consumer members in Columbia, Hamilton, Lafayette and Suwannee Counties. SVEC maintains over 4,100 miles of electric distribution lines and serves an area of about 2,100 square miles.
UWSV is a community impact and fundraising organization which, utilizing volunteers on all levels, advances the common good by identifying unmet community needs and seeking to alleviate those needs through UWSV initiatives and the funding of affiliated health and human service agencies. UWSV serves Columbia, Hamilton, Lafayette and Suwannee Counties.
