The Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department is an integral part of the community. As such, they are present at many community events from Homecoming to Pioneer Day. They also take part in handing out candy during Halloween. However, due to increase in prices of candy and the limited volunteers at the department, things were looking grim for both the department and Halloween. The Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department recently asked for donations to help with their efforts and were met with a joyous response. Many donations were made and even Ryleigh Mallard, Junior Miss All-Star United States 2021, was able to donate 11 bags of candy. The Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department is grateful for Mallard, as well as to the entire community for rallying to support them in making sure children have a good night on Halloween.
