A big congratulations to Jackie King, who has passed her nursing boards. This was no easy feat, as King is a wife, mother of five and holds a full time nursing job. She has been happily married to her husband, Travis King, for eight years. In her free time, King enjoys spending time with friends and family, enjoying her kids and going out on date nights with her husband. Despite the difficulties of balancing work, life and home, King persevered, as she knew any sacrifices made then would benefit everyone in the future.
King moved to Lee, Fla. from Miami, Fla., in 2005 and recently moved to Mayo, with her family in the beginning of 2021. She graduated high school in Miami at G. Holmes Braddock Sr. High School. She continued her education at North Florida College, where she graduated as an LPN in 2013 and from the LPN to Registered Nurse (RN) Bridge in 2021. Throughout her learning experience, King enjoyed her clinicals at South Georgia Medical Center, where her classmates and clinical instructor made the experience memorable. King hopes to continue her education and start working towards her BSN.
She is currently the Director of Nursing for Mayo Correctional Institution. King was inspired to enter the healthcare field by her sister-in-law, Jessica Dedge and one of her best friends, Ronda Garner. She says that they are both incredible RN's who believed in her and continue to inspire her to be a better nurse.
"I would like to thank my supportive family and friends, my husband for pushing me to continue when I didn't want to and my children for being my reason to want to better myself," said King. "I would also like to thank all the nurses and CNA's – past, present, and future. Your sacrifice doesn't go unnoticed; we care for others even when we sometimes neglect ourselves and our loved ones. Nursing is a true calling and I am blessed to be in this profession."
