On Thursday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m., state representative Anthony Sabatini visited Live Oak City Hall, located at 101 White Ave. S.E. Sabatini is a member of the Republican party. Originally born in the state of New York, at less than two years old, Sabatini was moved to Florida. Sabatini went on to earn a bachelors degree in philosophy and history from the University of Florida (UF). He also earned a Juris Doctor degree from the UF Fredric G. Levin College of Law and even served in the Florida Army National Guard. Sabatini was elected the Florida House of Representatives in 2018 and was subsequently reelected in 2020. He appeared in Live Oak in response to a request from the American Patriots in Live Oak.
Sabatini began his speech on Thursday by acknowledging those in the room who agreed the Democratic party is wrong on most aspects. However, Sabatini reminded those at the meeting they have no control over Democrats, but instead have control over their Republican representatives. He then moved to say that is the reason why he focuses on fixing the Republican party first. Sabatini then proceeded to criticize many decisions made by the Republican party in the last 60 years, arguing that Democrats, when in power, use their power to its fullest extent, playing “offense,” while saying most Republicans, when in power, are too afraid to use their power to its fullest extent. Sabatini argued now is the time for Republicans to go on the offensive instead of the defensive, communicating to the group how it's time to hold their representatives accountable, even going so far as to say some representatives are people who will do anything to destroy the U.S.
“We need to defund and destroy leftist institutions in our state,” Sabatini said as he moved to discussing the bills he wished to pass this year.
Sabatini opened this discussion by further elaborating on the corruption in the state legislature, beginning by saying the pro-life heartbeat bill would have been passed over three years ago if it had not been blocked by Republican legislature. He also made the group aware how, every year the State of Florida has a record-breaking budget, it is only used to fund “garbage leftist trash.” Sabatini then moved to the list of bills he is trying to pass this year, starting with a bill he proposed to ban Capitol Police from opening in Florida. Capitol Police are the private security for Congress run by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Sabatini also spoke of his constitution carry bill. Providing clear evidence from the Constitution, he argued legal U.S. citizens should nothave to require a permit to bear arms.
Sabatini then moved to his E-Verify bill, revealing an astonishing truth to the group. Further attacking the current Republican legislature, Sabatini revealed Florida is not fully an E-Verify state. E-Verify is used to stop illegal immigrants from being employed in the U.S. He went on to tell the crowd, instead of the legislature passing the bill requiring all employers to use E-Verify, the legislature instead passed a bill that simply gave the option of requiring it. Sabatini then said the goal of this move is for the “coward Republicans” to protect themselves from offending anyone.
Sabatini then moved to discussing his next bill, a move to rename the longest road in Florida, U.S. Highway 27, after President Donald J. Trump. Sabatini also discussed House Bill 75, which would completely ban vaccine and mask mandates in the State of Florida, telling the crowd that the only state to have made the move so far was Montana. Also brought up was Sabatini’s bill trying to acquire a third-party election audit of the 2020 election. Sabatini elaborated by saying that everyone was concerned at the efficacy of the election, therefore it only makes sense to audit all 50 states. Sabatini has also filed a bill to remove the prohibition of firearms on college campus. He also discussed the red flag laws, making the crowd aware that “the unconstitutional and inappropriate laws” were passed by Republican legislature, even going so far as to tell everyone that, over two months ago, the legislature had a meeting to further expand gambling in Florida. The final bill Sabatini discussed was his bill to ban gender-reassignment surgery for minors in Florida, further proving that his constituents were “cowards” by revealing the bill had been blocked by Republicans for two years.
Sabatini ended by saying, “We need to destroy the RINOS,” clarifying that a RINO is a Republican who is “afraid of being called a mean name” and publicly criticizing Speaker of the House Chris Spowls, calling him, “trash.” Sabatini then pushed for action from the crowd, revealing the answer to the problem. “Start at the local level,” Sabatini said, urging citizens to remove politicians who have failed at their job. Sabatini then went on to urge the crowd to find more conservative and courageous Republicans. “We are heading towards socialism,” Sabatini said in warning, arguing this must be stopped. Sabatini then ended his speech and was met with applause from the amicable crowd.
