Pastor/Chaplain Stephen A. Haskell, age 75, of Lake City, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at Lake City Medical Center in Lake City. Haskell was born in Fairmont, W. Va., on April 11, 1946, to the late John Russell Haskell and Georgia Beatrice Drennon Haskell.
He received his Bachelor degree in Ministry and Theology from Baptist Bible Institute and believed strongly in his service to the Lord. Chaplain Haskell (retired) was Senior Supervising Chaplain at Hamilton Correctional Institution for 21 years and served as Pastor at Jennings Missionary Baptist Church in Jennings most recently, before retiring due to declining health. Following retirement, he and his wife moved to Daytona and lived briefly before returning to live in Lake City to be closer to family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Brenda Richey Haskell; three sons: Douglas Alexander Haskell, Johnathan Russell Haskell and Stephen Daniel Haskell; one daughter, Sheila Renda Springs and her husband, Andy and three grandchildren: Haley Springs, Freyja Haskell and Falynn Haskell.
Memorial services were held on Monday, Sept. 13, at Jennings Missionary Baptist Church with Chaplain Donald "Chip" Sheetz officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date. Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, of Jasper, was in charge of arrangements.
