On Thursday, Sep. 9, at 10:59 p.m., 51-year-old Julie Lynn Lake, of Mayo, was arrested for possession of marijuana; retail theft; possession of a controlled substance; possession of cocaine; possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Thursday evening, Lake entered Walmart, located at 6868 US Hwy 129, in Live Oak, where she proceeded to select numerous items from store shelves and hid them in her purse. At checkout, she was observed fake scanning multiple items, then proceeded past points of sale and exited the store. The total value of stolen items was $194.84.
Lake was then approached and questioned by Corporal Justin Stout with the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office. When Cpl. Stout questioned Lake whether she had anything illegal on her person, she replied "yes" and produced a small round clear container from her pants. The container tested positive for heroin. Also produced from Lake's purse was a second small round container that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Cpl. Stout then deployed his K9 unit around Lake's vehicle, which provided a positive alert. Inside of the car, 0.6 grams of cocaine, 7.6 grams of synthetic marijuana, three THC oil cartridges, 10 Codeine pills, less than 20 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found.
Lake was booked into the Suwannee County Jail on Sept. 9, at approximately 10:22 p.m., under a bond set at $33,000. She has since been released.
