The Florida Baptist Convention Mobile Dental Unit will be at Wellborn Baptist Church from Monday, Sept. 6, through Friday, Sept. 17.
They will be providing free dental care, for extractions and fillings only. The Mobile Dental Unit serves those with no dental insurance, who are at the 200 percent poverty level, so you must qualify to receive care.
A pre-screening is required; call the Mobile Dental Unit at (386) 247-1753. They ask you to ensure you speak clearly and slowly while leaving your message.
The Mobile Dental Mission provides a source of ministry to local churches. Specifically, they seek to supply those churches with outreach connections to their communities through the provision of free dental care. They help meet the needs of the underserved while continuing to share their religion and provide spiritual care through personal evangelism.
The Wellborn Baptist Church did have the Mobile Dental Unit on campus a few years ago, and the turnout was very successful.
"It's a very good program- it's so great," said Linda Whittle, secretary at Wellborn Baptist Church. "I can't imagine walking around with a toothache and not being able to get it removed because it's so expensive. They will be here for the two weeks, so they really need to take advantage of that."
Wellborn Baptist Church is located at 4146 Low Lake Rd., in Wellborn.
