On Thursday, Aug. 19, a call was received by the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) at 4 p.m. about a shooting that took place on U.S. Highway 27, by the Three Rivers area. The caller reported he had been shot in his leg while driving on U.S. Highway 27.
Upon investigation by the SCSO, the incident is thought to be an unintentional shooting. By backtracking the ballet's line of travel, Investigators concluded a gun fired a bullet into the air around the Three Rivers area and came down on U.S. Highway 27, just at the exact moment the vehicle was driving by. At that moment, the bullet ricocheted upward, traveling through the vehicle and striking the driver in the leg.
At this time, there is no indication the shooting was intentional, nor is there any evidence as to who the shooter was. Riverbend News will continue to follow this story for any further updates.
