Woodrow Calvin Blue, 80, passed away at North Florida Regional Medical Center on Friday, Aug. 13. Blue was born on Dec. 20, 1940, in Thomasville, Ga., at Archibald Memorial Hospital to Woodrow Blue and Sibyl Kirkland Blue.
After high school, Blue honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Sea Bees. He was a long-time member of Alton Church of God and also attended Midway Baptist Church (Mayo). After his military service, he worked at Sportcraft before working with Buckeye Cellulose. Blue worked at Buckeye for 27 years before retiring in 1996. In his spare time, Blue loved fishing on the Suwannee River, hunting, carpentry, gardening and spending time with family.
Blue is survived by his son, Jayson (Helen) Blue; stepsons, Don Blackshear, Tim (Rhonda) Walker and Scott (Heather) Walker; daughter-in-law, Tracey Blackshear; brother, Ralph (Dahlia) Blue; sister-in-law, Robin Blue; grandchildren, Jayson Colby Blue, Ethan Blackshear, Eli Blackshear, Brandon Blackshear, Bradley Blackshear and Chloe Blackshear, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Blue was preceded in death by parents Woodrow and Sybil Blue; his wife of 43 years, Irma Odom Blue; his brother, Charles Wesley Blue; son, John Blackshear and most recently his wife of four years, Jettie Ruth Walker Blue.
In keeping with Blue's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Arrangements were under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
