Peggy Ann Becton, 74, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 15, in Gainesville, Fla. Becton was born on Oct. 9, 1946, in Alabama to D.W. Bethune and Yuvone Hill Bethune.
Becton was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Westside Baptist Church of Lake Wales. She was active in her church and enjoyed teaching children's church and loving the elderly. Becton worked as the Food Service Coordinator with Oakridge Assisted Living for seven years. She had a gift for floral design and a passion for people. She was a trusted, dependable friend to many.
Becton is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Becton; her children, Billy (Abbey) Becton and Dawn (Rick) Becton Yeager; her mother, Yuvone Bethune; her sister, Alice LeBlanc; grandchildren, Zachary Yeager, Anna Yeager, Jeff Maroney, Sharon Maroney, Natalie Pyle and Emily Wetzel and nine great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Becton was preceded in death by her father D.W. Bethune.
Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Bro. Rick James officiating. All arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
