On Sunday, Aug. 1, at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Lafayette County Fire Department (LCFD) was dispatched to 5247 CR 53, near Day, for a structure fire.
Upon arrival, the LCFD found a bulk tobacco barn fully engulfed in flames.
The barn, owned by Timmy Driver, contained approximately 2,500 pounds of cured tobacco and was deemed a total loss.
An adjacent tobacco barn sustained minimal damage but no crop loss.
Assisting LCFD on the scene was the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, Lafayette County EMS and the Forestry Department.
