Two residents of Palm Bay, Fla., were transported to Lake City Medical Center following a two vehicle collision in Branford on Wednesday, July 21, at approximately 9:57 a.m.
According to the report filed by Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) both vehicles, a 2007 Mack tractor pulling a loaded log trailer and a 1999 F-350 pickup truck pulling a travel trailer, were traveling north on US 27, with the pickup truck traveling in front of the log truck. The pickup truck slowed and began making a left turn into the Dollar General Market parking lot. The FHP report states the driver of the log truck failed to notice the pickup truck had slowed down, causing him to take evasive action by steering left in attempt of avoiding a collision.
The log truck collided with the pickup truck on US 27, near 83rd Place, causing the pickup's travel trailer to overturn onto its left side. Following the initial collision with the pickup truck, the log truck and its trailer also overturned, causing the load of logs to spill out.
The driver of the F-350 pickup truck, a 72-year-old male and the passenger, a 65-year-old female, both from Palm Bay, were transported to Lake City Medical Center by ambulance with serious injuries. The driver of the log truck, a 30-year-old male from Chiefland, was reported to have sustained minor injuries.
