The Live Oak Police Department (LOPD) held a luncheon fundraiser for Lake City Police Officer Taylor Sapp on Thursday, June 3, at 11 a.m., at the police department, located at 205 SE White Ave., in Live Oak. Sapp was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and while undergoing chemotherapy, will have to take leave from serving her community for at least 17 weeks.
LOPD Chief Keith Davis, along with other police officers, put together lunches of hot dogs, chips and bottled water for anyone willing to make a donation. The police department set up a drive through lane in front of their building for pick-up and also delivered meals throughout Live Oak.
The food was donated to the police department by the Live Oak Walmart and Save- A-Lot.
"Like many others, we saw the reaction of our local communities and how they were coming together to help and we wanted to do the same," the Live Oak Police Department's Facebook page reads.
The LOPD delivered their donations raised to the Lake City Police Department on Monday, June 7.
"As her work family, we appreciate all the support the North Florida community, and those not from this area, have provided to Taylor," the Lake City Police Department's Facebook page reads.
Sapp is a 23-year-old police officer in Lake City and is the daughter of Troy and Amanda Sapp and Jennifer Sims. She is a graduate of Branford High School.
There is a fundraiser set up for Sapp on GoFundMe called #TaylorStrong to help cover her medical and living expenses during her recovery. Ashley Wickline and Gretell Bates organized the fundraiser on behalf of Sapp.
