Suwannee Pineview Elementary School (SPES), located at 1748 Ohio Ave. S, in Live Oak, recently received a new school logo.
On Thursday, May 27, the last day of the 2020-21 school year for Suwannee County, the administrative staff of SPES presented a plaque to fifth grade student Carson Mathews. The 2021 Appreciation Award was presented to Carson in honor of his father, Riverbend News' very own Shane Mathews, who created and donated the school's new logo. Per his father's request, SPES gave credit to Carson for his birthday, which was on Monday, May 24. The administrative staff even sang "Happy Birthday" to Carson as they presented the plaque to him.
Suwannee Pineview Elementary School's new logo features a rocket ship taking flight, surrounded by a gear, which embodies the school's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program. Written inside the gear is the school's name and written just outside of the gear is "School of Innovation."
