For Jasper, Fla., native Latia Lumpkin, Gentle Love and Care is not merely a name for her home care agency, it's a way of life. “Knowing I'm making a difference in someone's life, that's what I find most gratifying,” says Lumpkin about her work. Gentle Love and Care has been serving the people of North Central Florida since 2011 with compassionate care from Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) and Home Health Aides. Gentle Love and Care serves a 16-county area ranging from Hamilton County in the north to Sumter and Citrus Counties in Central Florida. The agency also serves as a staffing agency, providing patient care staff for many physicians in the community. At present there are approximately 30 patients being served in their homes by Gentle Love and Care, although, according to Lumpkin, that number can vary slightly from week to week. The services offered cover a wide range, from something as simple as shopping and running errands, to Alzheimer's and Dementia care and post surgical care.
Lumpkin began her health care career in 2002 when she received her CNA license from Valdosta Technical College (now Wiregrass Technical College). She still continues to provide “hands on” care to patients herself. “I'm not always stuck here in the office,” said Lumpkin.
