Dewey James Davis, 87, of Mayo, Fla., passed away Monday, April 19, 2021, surrounded by his loving family in his home. The Dallas, Texas, native moved to Mayo in 1983. Davis was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, a welder and truck driver. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country and gospel music. He loved his grandbabies and enjoyed spoiling them, especially with jelly beans.
Davis is survived by his wife of 40 years: Nancy Davis, Mayo, Fla.; daughters: Cathy Lovelace, Elkhart, Ind.; Juanita Warren (Jimmy), Springfield, Mo.; Bobbi Galloup (Steve), Luther, Mich.; Rayetta Land (Mike), Groton, Conn.; Mary Davis, Live Oak, Fla.; Karen Williams (Verlon), Mayo, Fla. and Tracie Bryan (Lawrence), Mayo, Fla.; sons: Donnie Davis, Mayo, Fla., Nathan Davis (Cyndi), Broken Arrow, Okla. and Jamie Davis (Gina) Broken Arrow, Okla.; 29 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Davis and Flora M. Smith Davis Manuel.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Branford Oasis Church, located at 11779 US-27, in Branford, Fla.
