The community is invited to come out on Saturday, Sept. 5, to Central Avenue on the first Saturday of each month for Jasper’s First Saturday Market Days and Farmers Market. The event kicks off at 8 a.m., and will last until 1 p.m., and it’s a great opportunity to build friendships while supporting local businesses.
“There’s no charge to anyone who wants to come and sell their crafts and wears,” said Cindy Eatmon, coordinator for the event. “Any vendor from anywhere is welcome to come and participate.”
The First Saturday Market Days is not hosted by an organization, so there are no administrative fees, which means everyone gets to keep 100 percent of their profits from the event. Vendors are allowed to set up along the sidewalk on Central Avenue and sell their items, which typically ranges from homemade crafts, paintings, fresh produce and even delicious treats.
“Right now it’s small, but we’re hoping to see it really grow into something big for our community,” she said. Anyone wishing to participate will need to furnish their own table(s), tents and whatever else is needed for their display. Eatmon said she also recommends that vendors bring a tent for shelter during the hot summer months.
“It’s just local people getting together to help our community,” Eatmon said. “We’re just trying to get some life back into our town.”
