The Woman's Club of Hamilton County met on Friday, March 12 at the club house, located at 403 6th Ave. NW, in Jasper. It was decorated in green thanks to Delores Marable Howell. Members enjoyed a delicious lunch celebrating the patron Saint of Ireland, St. Patrick. Members had corned beef and cabbage with carrots, potatoes, cracklin' cornbread and corn pone. Delicious desserts of green layer cake and strawberry pretzel salad were also enjoyed.
The pledge to the flag, devotion and prayer were led by Sybil Johnson Allen.
The president, Nancy Cozart, led discussions of new and old business. New business was a letter from Chris Combass, Hamilton County High School (HCHS) Safety Advisory Council, informing the club they were selected as the "Partner of the Month" for their continued support of HCHS Feed America. This group supplies extra food to approximately 100 students every month. The Woman's Club of Hamilton County will continue to support this kind endeavor.
They also decided to have "bring your favorite salad and dessert" for the meeting on Friday, April 9.
Old business discussion included the kind "thank you" message from the Suwannee Valley Nursing Home for the club's generous gifts at Christmas. The club really enjoys working with the residents and staff at the nursing home.
The Woman's Club of Hamilton County also announced that it was time, once again, to select their scholarship recipients for 2021. The selection committee is composed of retired teachers.
The Woman's Club of Hamilton County will meet again on Friday, April 9 at 12 p.m. in the club house, located at 403 6th Ave. NW, in Jasper. New members are always welcome, so don't hesitate to join!
