The Arc North Florida, Inc. held their 23rd Annual Lawn Mower Race on Saturday, March 13. The race took place at 9:30 a.m., at John's Lawn Equipment, located at 1629 Ohio Ave. N in Live Oak.
"Our Annual Lawn Mower Race had a great turnout," said Beverly Standridge, Executive Director of The Arc. "Without our community members and supporters, we would not have been able to raise over $7,000 in funds to be used towards the clients we serve and their needs. We thank all sponsors, no matter the size of their contribution and our participants for coming out and competing for a good cause."
The first place winner was Shelly Williams Photography, who was sponsoring the Live Oak Fire Department. Jordan Insurance Agency came in second. Teams also included Florida Inspections, Inc., Walt's Auto Group and Hannah's Homies with close calls in both heats. With pit stops sponsored by First Federal Bank, Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative, McCrimon's Office Supplies, L&G General Services and W.B. Howland's, competitors had many exciting challenges to overcome to cross the finish line.
"Community support is important and an essential element for any nonprofit organization and the dedication from the community for our agency does not go unnoticed," said Standridge. "We thank John's Lawn Equipment for inviting us back to have the race in conjunction with their Customer Appreciation Day and all of the community members who came to enjoy the race and participate in the raffles. We hope to have just as much fun next year!"
