"Eyeglasses solve seeing problems. Hearing aids solve hearing problems. Pencils solve writing problems and utensils solve eating problems." If you think about it, everything that is created is done so with the purpose and intent of a problem to solve. Including you! There is always a reward waiting at the end of a solved problem. A plumber solves a plumbing problem and receives a paid invoice for his/her services. A mechanic solves car problems and earns a living for it. Even your own personal job at it's very basic is solving some sort of problem for your employer! He/she lacks the ability to do it all him/herself, so they pay you to fill the gaps. The good news is, you don't have to look very far to find someone complaining of some sort of problem. It's in their nature. I used to get so frustrated listening to folks complain about everything. Then it hit me one day like a ton of bricks... Solve the problem and reap a reward! So as I began to think on this, I actually set out to start looking for problems. Listening to people complain was like music to my ears. A kid in a candy store I tell ya! I would understand if you thought I'm nuts at this point however; the point I am intending to make is simply this:
1. What a fool calls a stumbling block, a wise man calls a stepping stone. If you can simply learn to be a problem-solver, I promise you, not only will you find yourself in more opportunities but you'll also find a little more peace as well.
2. People are remembered for problems they solved and problems they created. Here's the catch- both are equally just as important! If it wasn't for my car breaking down, my mechanic wouldn't have a job!
3. The next time someone chooses your ear to rattle off some sort of problem or complaint. See that as an opportunity. You may not be able to solve every problem, but the great news is, problems are not going anywhere anytime soon so buckle-up and carry yourself a notepad because your breakthrough may just come in the form of solving a simple problem.
Until next time!
