Hamilton County High School recently took part in an art show hosted by the Turner Center for the Arts located in Valdosta, Ga., in honor of Youth Art Month. Works of art completed by their students were submitted for the possibility to display their art in a real show. The creative works of young artists from kindergarten to 12th grade are on display this month at the art center until Wednesday, March 24, representing nearly 50 schools across the region, with free admission for those who want to attend.
Teachers were tasked with choosing the artwork from 10 of their most accomplished students and Hamilton County’s own Tristan Carter received the first place ribbon for her black and white photograph titled "Overgrown." Adolofo Godinez Ramirez received an honorable mention for his work titled "Arrangements." Carter had this to say about her photograph and the art medium used: "By capturing the beautiful story of the past through the use of photography, I want to show how I am proud of the history of this town and we need to bring relevance again to those who built this community from the ground up." Hamilton County seems to inspire people of all ages and beautiful pieces of art like Carters prove just that.
