Geraldine Leigh Fisher, age 95, of Jasper, passed away at Lake City Medical Center on Saturday, March 6, 2021, following a brief illness. Fisher was born July 28, 1925, in Hamilton County, to Cossie and Blanche Roebuck Leigh. After graduating from high school in Jennings, Fla., Fisher married Tom Fisher and traveled the world during his service. Upon his retirement, she spent the bulk of her adult life in Warner Robins, Ga., where she enjoyed a civil-service career working at the Warner Robins Air Force Base. After retirement, she returned to Hamilton County, where she spent her retired years enjoying studying her family genealogy, traveling the United States with friends and spending time with her family. She also was an avid lover of history and enjoyed many other hobbies, including crocheting, with which she blessed many of her family members with her handmade gifts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Fisher; her parents, Blanche Roebuck Jones and Cossie Leigh; her sister, Faye Anne Jones Godwin and her brother, William Albert Jones, Jr. She was a faithful member of Bright Pond Baptist Church. She is survived by one sister, Lillian Bembry; one brother, Clayton Jones (Bonnie) and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 10, at Bright Pond Baptist Church with Pastor Gerald Smith officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
