The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are continuing to investigate a homicide, which occurred early in the morning on Friday, Feb. 19. According to Major Davis, the HCSO was called to the scene on NW 86th Blvd., which is around five miles north of Jasper, at approximately 6:25 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies with the HCSO found the victim, now identified as 39-year-old Christopher Sanchez Rayford Jr., dead on the scene after sustaining a gunshot wound.
Rayford was born Sept. 14, 1982, to parents Christopher Rayford Sr. and Vivian Green. Rayford's memory lives on with: his parents, Christopher Rayford and Vivian Green; four siblings: Daniel Rayford, Amy White (Tyrone), Terrence Rayford (Ramona) and Ann Rayford; two uncles: Leroy Rayford (Theresa) and Malcolm Brown; two aunts: Bonnie Jean Rayford and Runette Arnold; his great-uncle, Henry Spencer; seven great-aunts: Mary Henderson, Jannie Rayford-Bristol, Mary Rayford, Geneva Spencer, Polly Sowell, Mattie Lee (Junior) and Evelyn Humphrey, along with a host of loving family and friends.
Lieutenant Chip Belote says there are no new leads or information the HCSO can release at this time. The HCSO and FDLE are still investigating the homicide. If anyone has any information pertaining to the case, please contact the HCSO at (386) 792-1001.
