Ernestine Register was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Pinetta, Fla., the daughter of Ernest and Hoyt Young. She was raised in Jasper, where she graduated from Jasper High School in 1950. Following high school, she enrolled at the University of Florida, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Elementary Education. She resided for the past 50 years on Crystal Lake near Keystone Heights, Fla.
Professionally, she devoted her life to teaching and molding children throughout the Bradford County School System with service at Hampton Elementary, Southside Elementary and Starke Elementary. Her final years in education were spent as the School Librarian at Starke Elementary, retiring in 1994. As a devoted follower of Christ, she expressed her faith through worship and service as a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Starke, where she taught two-year-olds in Sunday School for 42 years.
Register was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lennard B. Register, Jr. She is loved and remembered by their three sons: Len Register III and his wife, Carla, of Pace, Fla.; Steve Register and his wife, Kathy, of Starke, Fla. and Chuck Register and his wife, Charlene, of Clayton, N.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church, 0f Starke, Fla. on Friday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. To protect everyone's safety during the midst of the COVID pandemic, masks were required of all attendees and social distancing was observed. A private interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
